Paden High School SWAT students, grades 7-12, stand strong against tobacco. SWAT stands for Students Working Against Tobacco. The mission statement of SWAT is to empower and unite youth to resist smoking while changing current attitudes about tobacco. SWAT is not against the smoker, but against the misinformation distributed by Big Tobacco. About 1 out of every 5 deaths in the US can be attributed to tobacco products. Every day about 2000 youths become daily smokers. SWAT activities teach students about the physical and social consequences of tobacco use, decision-making, problem solving and refusal skills. Our goal is to keep our young people healthy and tobacco-free.
Students can sign up with Mrs. Stacy McMullan, SWAT Adult Partner.
